Method: Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC)

Results: The positive control plate for each test organism confirmed growth inoculum 104-105 organisms/mL after 24 hours of incubation and the negative control was no growth after 24 and 48 hours of incubation.

The inoculum of 104-105 organisms/mL. for each test organism after 48 hours of incubation yielded the following MIC values:

Organisms:   MIC ( ppm CHG / Alcohol )
Vancomycin Resistant
Enterococcus faecalis (VRE)
   < 1,000 / 2,000
Methicillin Resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

Escherichia Coli
ATCC 25922
  < 1,000 / 2,000
Salmonella typhimurium
ATCC 13311
  < 1,000 / 2,000
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
ATCC 27853

Conclusion:   This lot of Laura Line Antiseptic soap DIN 02247584 containing 2% Chlorhexidine digluconate and 4% Isopropyl alcohol completely inhibited growth of 104-105 Vancomycin-Resistent Enterococcus faecalis, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Salmonella typhimurium. The 104-105 microbial growth represents a reasonably heavy contamination and the tested soap should be enough to do the required task.
