All Laura Line Products have been developed for the Canadian Health Care Market with its challenging and ever increasing requirements in mind. Laura Line started by working closely with hospitals to determine the priorities of each key influence in the hand washing products decision making process. Three important groups were identified as being affected by and involved in the development of any hand soap program.

INFECTION CONTROL

Infection Control Practitioners represent the end users. Health care professionals have an imperative need for high quality products that are uniquely suited for their frequent hand washing requirements. Proper hand washing remains the primary defense in preventing the spread of infection. Product quality has a direct impact on user acceptance and therefore on the frequency and quality of hand washing performed by the health care professional.

PURCHASING

Purchasing must continue to look for innovative ways to reduce the overall cost of any program being implemented in their facility. Further, they look for reliable and helpful suppliers.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

Environmental services departments in all facilities are under ongoing pressure to do more with fewer resources. Any program implemented needs to reduce the burden on this department in any way possible.

With these issues and priorities as our bench mark requirements Laura Line developed a hand washing program based on the following...

PRODUCT QUALITY

Product quality has been Laura Line's number one priority since the beginning of product development. Our success in this area is born out by the excellent end user acceptance of our products during clinical trials throughout the Canadian health care market.

FRAGRANCE FREE

Further to product quality, we at Laura Line have developed a complete line of fragrance free, products. With a growing number of staff and patients having sensitivities to fragrance, our completely fragrance free soaps and hand creams help eliminate any potential problems.

EFFICACY OF PRODUCTS

The antimicrobial efficacy of all Laura Line antibacterial products has been detemiined by third party lab testing ( see product profiles ). Laura Line's utilization of heat in our manufacturing process and our unique preservative system which leaves all Triclosan available to the hand washing process and not as a preservative, has enabled us to reduce the level of Triclosan in our cream soaps to 0.2%. Same efficacy, less irritation to hands.

VALUE FORMULA

Our product format was established by using what has been accepted in the market place in relation to space available on the wall. By designing a 1.8L bottle system which fits into a IL space we have kept production and packaging costs to a minimum. Reducing non-soap component costs has allowed us to supply superior quality products at the lowest possible cost.

DISPENSING SYSTEM

The Laura Line Wall Bracket with lockable tab was designed very closely with both infection control and environmental services personnel. The dispensing systems of most competitors are costly. Our simple wall bracket system significantly reduces the dispensing cost which must be amortized into the per litre cost of product.

Infection Control wanted a dispensing system that was easy to use, never broken, easy to keep clean and flexible. Our user friendly pump allows for one handed use even for those with mobility or dexterity impairments. Our wall bracket has no moveable parts and thus will never break preventing any unusable wash locations. It is simple and open with no place for dirt to hide. All Laura Line products fit the same dispenser. This allows infection control to switch products easily to suit changing soap requirements without changing or cleaning dispensers.

Environmental services wanted a system that was both easy to clean and took less time to manage. Our bracket is easy to clean and due to the 1.8L size requires less replacement time. Our bracket is also unbreakable preventing the environmental services department from having to document broken dispenser locations and from having to clean up after broken, leaking dispensers which is time consuming as well as a safety hazard. Experience has also shown that the 1.8L package size has been a deterrent to product theft. Lockable tabs are provided upon request and are an extra measure of security for areas of concern. A key lock system is also available for very high risk locations.

Laura Line's durable, simple and logical dispensing system addresses both infection control and environmental services requirements.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

All Laura Line packaging is recyclable #2 plastic. By using a 1.8L format we have also reduced the amount of overall packaging material as compared to competitive systems. Most established in-house plastic recycling programs will accept this material.

COMPLETE LINE OF PRODUCTS

Laura Line has a complete range of additional skin care products available for specific applications. These include moisturizing lotions and creams, compatible with CHG formulations, barrier creams, sanitizing gel, shampoo and body washes.
